Maria Lim Falk

Maria Lim Falk is an assistant professor in Nordic Languages in the Department of Swedish and Multilingualism at Stockholm University. Her research interests concern language development, teaching and learning, and in particular the relationship between language and knowledge development in multilingual educational contexts.

Four research areas have been central to Maria’s scientific activities: Language and Content Integrated Learning and Teaching (CLIL); Swedish with a didactic focus, including Swedish as a second language in school and in teacher education; Newly arrived students’ language learning, language development and learning in teaching and school development perspectives; and School development, capacity building and collaboration on a scientific basis. Maria’s scientific activities often involve close and far-reaching collaboration with school actors at different levels – from the administrative level to classroom level. The aim can be to generate new scientific knowledge or to promote societal development, sustainability and innovation with school development as goals where students’ development and learning are always central. The collaborative projects Maria leads are characterized by the key words equivalence, high quality, effectiveness, and structure.
